Even though Red Dead Redemption 2 came out 6 years ago, it is the kind of game that amazes me even today. There’s so much attention to detail that my jaw dropped the first time that I played it. Brilliant storyline and insane graphics, honestly I don’t know where to start because there’s so much I can mention in this article.
However, I’ll mention the key factors of Red Dead Redemption 2 and what makes it an experience of a lifetime! Do keep in mind that this version of the game is actually a prequel and comes before the events of Red Dead Redemption, so it will only make sense if you play the second one before the first one, for a better experience!
So without any further ado, let’s get into it!
An Immersive Online Mode
One thing that really spoke to me about Red Dead Redemption 2 is the online mode that comes with the game. I remember buying a subscription to PlayStation Plus only so that I could play the online mode of the game!
You get to interact with people from all over the world as you traverse through the Old West-themed map. You can take part in heists, fight to survive together, steal horses, become a bounty hunter and do a lot more; the possibilities are endless.
Rockstar doesn’t hold back when it comes to online modes in games, something that you might have noticed in GTA V Online as well. People also claim that the online mode for Red Dead Redemption 2 is actually a lot better than that of GTA V! Since I also wanted to test the online mode out, I put in a lot of research for good internet connections and came across Xfinity Internet which not only gave me a superfast connection for online gaming but also an affordable plan that I could not ignore! Thus began my RDR 2 adventures!
A Captivating Story
One of the most intriguing things about this game is the story that keeps you hooked from start to end. There is never a dull moment once you start the game and it makes you want to keep playing!
The story is about a gang of outlaws who escape after a heist-gone-bad since they have a bounty on their heads and they must survive. Our protagonist is Arthur Morgan, who is also a prominent member of the gang and the game gives you a choice of becoming an honorable citizen or a dishonorable outlaw, based on the actions that you carry out in the game.
There are also a lot of moments in the game that you will not expect, so you better prepare yourself for events that will absolutely shock you!
Horses!
Since this is the wild west and cars haven’t been invented yet, everyone rides on horses to get to their places!
Here I would love to give you a little tip, you can get the best horse in the game right at the start of the game! Just do a couple of the initial missions and then head to Lake Isabella where you can find the rare White Arabian horse.
Taming it will take a lot of patience and will take a while, so make sure that you have a lot of patience and don’t spook the horse over and over again. Approach it slowly in game while remaining calm until you finally mount the horse. Then just control the movement so that you don’t get bucked off the horse as the horse resists you and tries to buck you off! Once you get the White Arabian, you won’t feel the need to change your horse throughout the game.
Strangers and Side Missions
The game doesn’t only progress through the main missions, there are a lot of other things that you can do as you travel through the map on your horse. For instance, there might be people getting attacked by wolves and cougars and you would have the option to save them.
Some people also pretend to need your help only to end up robbing you! Here you will fend yourself off and hide the deceased so that you don’t raise suspicion to yourself. You also have to teach people things as in one side mission you teach a widow how to hunt so that she can survive out in the wild.
In some cases, some strangers and NPCs also teach you something such as crafting ammo or other survival techniques. Some strangers challenge you to a horse race, and winning these races helps improve your horse’s speed and acceleration.
These are only some of the many things that make Red Dead Redemption 2 an amazing game! Just a little tip, make sure you have a box of tissues towards the end of the game, since things get pretty emotional. Red Dead Redemption 2 is the kind of game that you should not miss out on, so be sure to add this one to your list and while you’re at it, check out the online mode for the game too!
